Nigerian Air Force did not invade Lagos airport, FAAN clarifies
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has debunked an online news platform bearing false information that the Nigerian Air Force invaded the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after embarrassing videos exposing corruption surfaced online.
In a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the Authority said what actually happened was a routine security operation carried out by a Joint Aviation Security Task Force to rid the airport of touts and miscreants.
The statement reads: “In contrast to a story broadcasted by an online news medium, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the general public that the Nigerian Air Force did not invade the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos as wrongly stated.
What took place was a routine Security operation by a Joint Aviation Security Task Force comprising personnel from the Aviation Security (Avsec), the Department of Security Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to rid the airport of touts and miscreants, in accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices.”
