Nigerian Delegation Visits Spain to Bolster Airspace Security
Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, in a move aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s air surveillance capabilities, have led a delegation to Indra, a leading global technology and consulting company, in Spain.
The mission, aptly titled “Air Surveillance for the Sovereignty, Security, and Safety of the Nigerian Airspace through Dual Use Technology (Civil and Military),” focuses on leveraging dual-use technology to improve Nigeria’s airspace monitoring and defense systems.
Details of the visit, as conveyed by Tunde Moshood Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, reveal that the delegation was graciously received by Indra’s CEO, Jose Vicente de los Mozos, alongside key executives such as Javier Ruano, VP ATM; Luis Permuy, VP International Sales; Emeric Osmont, Director West Africa; Sergio Sanchez, Director for Institutional Relationships; and General (Rtd) Francisco Almerich, Former Chief of Air Defence Command Centre, Spanish Air Force.
Indra, renowned for its proprietary solutions in the Transport and Defence markets, stands as a pivotal player in Digital Transformation Consultancy and Information Technologies in Spain and Latin America through its affiliate, Minsait.
During the visit, the delegation toured Indra’s Headquarters, Simulator Factory, and Academy, where they observed the latest advancements in security and safety equipment.
The company also led the delegation through detailed presentations on cutting-edge technologies such as the latest Air Traffic Control System (ACC APP TWR) Demo, Dual Project Scope Definition, Voice Communications System Demo, and demonstrations of Radar and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS).
The Nigerian delegation included several high-ranking officials: Mr. Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Defence, Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari, Chairman, Senate Committee On Aviation, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba, Chairman, House Committee On Aviation, Air Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.
