NIMASA DG strengthens ties with Nigerian Navy for maritime advancement
In a move to bolster cooperation between the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Nigerian Navy, Dr. Bashir Jamoh OFR, the Director General of NIMASA, recently undertook a working visit to Vice Admiral E I Ogala, the Chief of Naval Staff.

NIMASA, the purpose of the visit was to deepen the existing relationship between the two entities for the greater benefit of the Nigerian Maritime industry.
During their meeting, Dr. Jamoh and Vice Admiral Ogala engaged in discussions aimed at fostering collaboration and ensuring the realisation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s vision of establishing the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry in a timely manner.
The emphasis was on strengthening ties to achieve common goals for the advancement of the maritime sector in Nigeria.
One key area of focus in their deliberations was the challenge of illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The leaders recognised the significance of addressing this issue to safeguard the marine resources and promote sustainable practices within the maritime industry.
Dr. Jamoh and Vice Admiral Ogala explored new avenues and strategies to combat IUU fishing, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that Nigerians reap the full benefits of their natural resources in the maritime domain.
The collaborative efforts between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy underscore a commitment to enhancing maritime security, fostering economic growth, and aligning with broader national objectives.
As both entities work hand in hand, their partnership aims to contribute significantly to the development of the Marine and Blue Economy Ministry, as envisioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
