NiMet Celebrates 2025 Retirees, Honours Decades of Dedicated Service
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has honoured its 2025 retiring officers in recognition of their exemplary service and lasting contributions to the Agency, at a send-off ceremony held on 11 December 2025.
The event, which brought together NiMet’s Management and staff, was led by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Charles Anosike, who paid glowing tribute to officers retiring after completing 35 years in service or attaining the statutory retirement age.
In his address, Professor Anosike described the ceremony as a significant milestone in NiMet’s institutional journey, noting that the retirees represent a vital pillar in the Agency’s history and development.
He commended them for their professionalism, operational expertise and unwavering commitment to NiMet’s mandate over the decades.
According to him, the retiring officers played a crucial role in providing stability, preserving institutional memory and mentoring younger professionals, thereby ensuring continuity and excellence within the Agency.
He emphasised that their dedication and adherence to NiMet’s core values helped to sustain high standards and strengthen the Agency’s resilience in the face of evolving operational challenges.
“The contributions of our retiring officers have been instrumental to the growth and progress of NiMet. Through their commitment and knowledge transfer, they have laid a strong foundation that will continue to support the Agency’s advancement,” Professor Anosike said.
He further noted that the retirees consistently upheld the principles that define NiMet’s service culture, adding that their legacy will remain an enduring reference point for future generations of meteorological professionals.
In their separate remarks, the retirees expressed profound appreciation to Professor Anosike for what they described as his transformative leadership.
They commended him for repositioning NiMet, boosting staff morale and championing reforms that have enhanced operational efficiency and improved the Agency’s national visibility.
The retirees described the Director-General’s tenure as one characterised by innovation, integrity and a renewed sense of institutional direction, noting that his leadership has strengthened confidence in the Agency’s future.
Professor Anosike, while congratulating the retirees on the successful completion of their careers, wished them good health, fulfilment and continued success as they embark on new chapters in their personal lives, urging them to remain ambassadors of NiMet wherever they go.
