The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, has called on the agency’s staff to foster a workplace culture grounded in ethical conduct and integrity.
This charge was made during the launch of NiMet’s Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy and Code of Ethics held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
In his address, Prof. Anosike emphasized the critical role of ethics, integrity, and accountability in achieving organisational success.
He noted, “The principles of ethics, integrity, and accountability are the foundation for any successful organization. They form the bedrock of any meteorological organization’s credibility and effectiveness. Upholding these values will build trust with our clients and stakeholders and help NiMet fulfill its mandate, contributing to national socio-economic development and the safety of lives and property.”
The launch event welcomed notable guests including representatives from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and various resource persons.
Prof. Anosike highlighted the collaborative spirit between NiMet and the ICPC, underscoring a shared commitment to institutionalising ethics and integrity within the public service.

As we unveil these documents today, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment where ethical behavior is a culture and corruption has no place.”
He further stressed that the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy is a clear declaration of NiMet’s zero-tolerance stance against corruption.
“Corruption not only undermines the effectiveness of our services and the realization of our goals but also erodes public trust in the critical work we do. This Policy details the Agency’s mechanisms to prevent, detect, and address any form of bribery and corruption.
“It sends a clear message that NiMet is committed to transparency and accountability in all its operations. All staff members are expected to embrace and adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct as stipulated in the NiMet Code of Ethics and Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy,” he said.
Mr. Charles Nwosu, representing the Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, lauded NiMet’s efforts.
He remarked, “We are highly impressed with the working environment at NiMet. We are grateful to DG/CEO Prof. Anosike for his dedication to this cause.
