NiMet DG Honoured with BusinessDay Public Service Excellence Award 2025
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, has been conferred with the prestigious BusinessDay Public Service Excellence Award 2025, a recognition that celebrates outstanding leadership and transformative public sector contributions across Nigeria.
Prof. Anosike received the award on 3 December 2025 during the seventh edition of the BusinessDay Public Lecture Series and Excellence Awards, an annual platform that spotlights public officials whose work strengthens governance, enhances institutional performance, and promotes data-driven policy-making.
According to the organisers, Prof. Anosike was selected for his exceptional commitment to advancing Nigeria’s meteorological and climate services through strategic reforms, efficiency-driven leadership, and an unwavering focus on climate resilience.
His efforts, they noted, have positioned NiMet as a benchmark for modern public service delivery in the country.
The Awards Committee commended him for championing innovation, service quality, and institutional excellence, noting that his recognition in the Excellence in Public Service category reflects his consistency in improving the agency’s operational standards and strengthening its national relevance.
Also honoured at the ceremony were several distinguished public leaders, including the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, among others.
The event highlighted the collective impact of visionary public sector leaders whose efforts continue to shape national development and strengthen public trust.
