NiMet inaugurates committee to review condition of service
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has taken a significant step towards enhancing its operational efficiency and staff welfare by inaugurating a committee to review its Condition of Service (CoS).
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Charles Anosike, spearheaded the initiative on Friday, June 7, 2024.
The Director of Weather Forecasting Services, Professor Vincent Weli, represented the DG at the event.
In his address, Professor Weli emphasised the necessity of the review, noting that the last revision occurred over five years ago and is now outdated.
Professor Anosike highlighted the importance of the task, describing it as an opportunity for the committee to develop a CoS that not only meets current needs but also anticipates future challenges and opportunities.
“This review is crucial for ensuring that our policies are aligned with the best practices and can adapt to the evolving landscape of the meteorological and aviation sectors,” he stated.
He urged the committee to engage in broad consultations, both within and outside the aviation sector, to identify benchmarks and best practices that would improve NiMet’s efficiency and enhance staff welfare.
The committee has been given a one-month deadline to draft and submit a revised CoS to the management for consideration.
This initiative underscores NiMet’s commitment to continuous improvement and its dedication to providing a supportive and forward-thinking working environment for its staff.
