NiMet Launches Global E-Learning Platform Integrated with Microsoft Teams
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has launched an advanced global learning management system (LMS) integrated with Microsoft Teams to enhance capacity building and foster greater collaboration.
This significant development was announced by Professor Charles Anosike, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet.
During the announcement, which took place on Friday – June 29, 2024 – in Abuja, Professor Anosike highlighted the extensive benefits of the new e-learning platform.
“NiMet’s E-learning platform will enhance global opportunities and greater collaboration with other reputable organizations. It is aimed at significantly boosting capacity building among the staff and effecting online interactive learning at the training arms of the agency,” he said.
The integration with Microsoft Teams is designed to provide NiMet’s staff and its training institutes with a seamless and robust platform for collaborative training and development.
This strategic move, according to Professor Anosike, aligns with the management’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the agency.
“We are confident that the LMS will revolutionise our training programs and set a new standard for online learning within the agency and in extension to the public that are interested in gaining knowledge in respect to the products and services of NiMet,” he added.
Professor Anosike also emphasised that this initiative is in line with the performance bond signed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, with the heads and directors of aviation agencies in February 2024; human capacity development is a key deliverable in this performance bond.
The new e-learning platform is expected to significantly enhance NiMet’s training programs, providing staff and public users with access to high-quality, interactive learning opportunities.
