NSIB collaborates with AAAU to elevate aviation safety standards across Africa
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has formed a strategic partnership with the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) to foster cooperation on training to prevent and mitigate accidents and incidents in the country’s transport sector.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NSIB, the bureau explained that the partnership aims to enhance training initiatives aimed at preventing and mitigating accidents and incidents within Nigeria’s transportation sector.
The AAAU, distinguished as the premier Pan-African institution dedicated to aviation, aerospace, and environmental science, fills crucial voids in the continent’s aviation landscape.
Addressing the pressing needs for research and development while concurrently nurturing a skilled workforce, AAAU is poised to propel Africa’s aviation and aerospace sector into new realms of excellence.
During a ceremony held at the NSIB Training School, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of NSIB, underscored the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
He emphasised that the MoU paves the way for collaborative efforts in facility sharing, capacity building, and overall cooperation between NSIB and AAAU.
Integral to this partnership is NSIB’s provision of access to its facilities, facilitating a seamless exchange of resources and expertise.
This gesture, according to the NSIB, solidifies the commitment of both entities towards advancing aviation safety not only in Nigeria but also across the African continent.
Captain Badeh expressed optimism regarding the impact of the collaboration, stating, “I am confident that this MoU will enhance the effectiveness of our collaboration and commitment to promoting safer skies and operational excellence in the aviation industry in Nigeria and beyond.”
In recognition of NSIB’s pivotal support, the Registrar of AAAU, represented by Engineer Masud Aliyu Yerima, Director of Physical Planning and Works, expressed gratitude for the partnership.
He acknowledged NSIB’s indispensable role in the establishment and progress of AAAU, affirming the university’s readiness to engage in mutually beneficial endeavors with NSIB.
This partnership sets a significant example for all stakeholders to cultivate a culture of safety and excellence within Nigeria’s aviation sector through partnerships.
By this partnership, both NSIB and AAAU are poised to harness this synergy to benefit the nation, promising advancements that will safeguard lives and propel the transport sector towards greater heights of excellence.
