Onyema Donates N50 Million to DEPOWA College, Urges Nigerians to Unite for National Development

The Chairman of Air Peace and prominent Nigerian entrepreneur, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, in a compelling demonstration of patriotism and unwavering commitment to nation-building, has donated N50 million to the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) College Project.
The announcement was made at the grand fundraising and groundbreaking ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers Mess in Maitama, Abuja.
Dr. Onyema, who served as co-launcher of the ambitious educational initiative, delivered an impassioned speech at the event, rallying Nigerians to embrace unity, empowerment, and collective responsibility for national advancement.
He lauded the DEPOWA College as a visionary project aimed at transforming the lives of the children of Nigeria’s military and police families, describing it as “a beacon of hope and a strategic investment in our future.”
“This is not just about bricks and mortar,” Onyema declared. “It is about shaping the minds of young Nigerians who will become leaders, innovators, and agents of positive change. As we lay the first stone of the DEPOWA College, we must understand that we are building a brighter tomorrow—one that empowers our youth to create solutions, inspire others, and contribute meaningfully to our nation and the world.”
The DEPOWA College, according to him, would be equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms, vocational centres, science laboratories, and creative workshops—all designed to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
In a stirring gesture, Dr. Onyema pledged N50 million on behalf of Air Peace and encouraged fellow Nigerians, irrespective of financial capacity, to contribute to the project. “No matter how little, every contribution counts. This project is a legacy we are all building together,” he urged.
He further highlighted the daily sacrifices made by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, asserting that the donation is Air Peace’s way of giving back to the families of national heroes who have committed their lives to securing the country.
The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, expressed profound gratitude for the donation, describing it as timely and deeply symbolic. “Dr. Onyema has again shown that true patriotism lies in action. His support is a shining example of what corporate responsibility should look like in Nigeria,” she remarked.
Beyond the donation, Air Peace has continued to demonstrate its commitment to the welfare of military personnel and vulnerable groups.
Over the past year, the airline has implemented a streamlined boarding process that gives priority to military personnel, individuals with special needs, and Business Class passengers—a reflection of its enduring respect for service members.
Dr. Onyema concluded his address with a passionate call to action, urging Nigerians to rise to the challenge of national development: “Let this project remind us that we all have a role to play in building Nigeria. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can turn this dream into a lasting reality.”
With the backing of patriotic leaders like Dr. Onyema and the collective will of the Nigerian people, the DEPOWA College is set to emerge as a lasting symbol of unity, education, and national pride.
