Oshoba Breaks Record With N20.1bn Revenue in Single Day at Apapa Port

The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new benchmark in revenue collection, generating a record-breaking N20.1 billion in a single day, less than 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.
According to figures released by the Command, the sum of N20,156,077,098.56 was collected on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, through the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.
This milestone surpasses the previous highest daily collection of N18 billion, positioning Oshoba as a reform-minded leader determined to exceed revenue targets.
The development comes on the heels of Oshoba’s maiden address on Monday, where he pledged to build on the successes of his predecessor and push the Command to even greater heights. He met with senior officers shortly after taking charge, urging them to maintain discipline, commitment, and productivity.
“Outstanding results are the true proof of hard work, dedication, and an uncompromising disposition to duty. I am confident that we can achieve more than what has been done before,” Oshoba told his officers.
While acknowledging the feat, Comptroller Oshoba cautioned against premature celebration, insisting that it marked only the beginning of greater achievements under his leadership.
“I commend my team and stakeholders for this milestone of N20.1 billion in one day just 24 hours after I resumed here,” he said. “It is not the time to clap yet, because clapping means removing your two hands from work. Let us reserve applause for the future when we surpass targets, prevent smuggling attempts, and facilitate trade with speed and integrity. I believe in action, which speaks louder than words.”
He further described B’Odogwu as a critical tool in building a more modern and efficient customs administration capable of strengthening Nigeria’s position as Africa’s largest economy and improving trade facilitation.
Oshoba also urged officers of the Command to sustain the momentum, while calling on stakeholders to maintain full compliance with regulations.
“We are all part of history as our collective efforts continue to impact the Nigerian economy positively,” he said.
The record underscores the Apapa Command’s reputation as the flagship of the NCS, playing a pivotal role in national revenue generation.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by Superintendent of Customs John Tunde Ayagbalo, Public Relations Officer of the Apapa Area Command.
