PTML Customs Hails B’Odogwu as Transformational, Nets N189.5 Billion in Revenue

…Command Ready for Higher Trade Volume and Pharmaceutical Imports – Comptroller Daniyan

The Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has declared its implementation of the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu, a remarkable success, generating a staggering N189,516,818,316.92 between November 2024 and mid-April 2025.

This was revealed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, during a first quarter briefing with senior officers and sectional heads.

Describing B’Odogwu as a “top-notch technology”, Comptroller Daniyan praised the platform for overcoming its initial teething challenges to become integral to the command’s achievements in revenue generation and trade facilitation.

A historic milestone was also recorded on 14 April 2025, when the command achieved its highest ever single-day revenue collection of N5,612,887,374.99—an unprecedented feat in the over 20-year history of the command.

Comptroller Daniyan attributed the PTML Command’s successes to the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

He noted that the command’s 2025 first quarter revenue, totalling N90,204,703,451.72, represents a 38.8% increase compared to the N66,920,181,586.30 collected during the same period in 2024, indicating a consistent upward trajectory in performance.

Highlighting PTML’s role as the pilot command for the B’Odogwu application, Comptroller Daniyan confirmed that its success has led to the approval for its wider deployment across other Customs commands nationwide.

On the issue of trade facilitation, the CAC proudly announced that PTML holds the record for the fastest cargo clearance time—two hours for compliant Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) consignments. “We are committed to making this even faster,” he affirmed.

He further disclosed that, beyond receiving vessels from Europe, the port has now begun welcoming ships from China, a move expected to expand trade frontiers and drive increased revenue from expanded economic activities.

“In line with the World Customs Organisation’s Time Release Study (TRS) aimed at ensuring faster cargo clearance, we urge all port users to make sincere declarations and remain compliant. These are the cornerstones for enjoying the benefits of trade facilitation. Any individual who fails to make sincere declarations risks forfeiting the privilege of faster clearance,” he warned.

Reaffirming the command’s zero tolerance for smuggling in all forms – including concealment, under-declaration, under-valuation, and outright false declaration – Comptroller Daniyan said officers are well-trained and equipped to detect infractions, seize offending consignments, and arrest suspects behind such illegalities.

In closing, he revealed that the PTML Command is now fully prepared to handle a higher volume of trade, including pharmaceutical imports, which have recently been approved by the management of the Nigeria Customs Service.
