SAHCO Clinches British Airways Platinum Award for Punctuality, Safety Performance

The Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has been honoured with the prestigious British Airways Platinum Award for its exceptional punctuality and safety performance at the Lagos station.

This accolade crowns a year of excellence, as SAHCO secured the bronze, silver, and gold awards at each quarter of 2024, culminating in the platinum recognition.

Speaking on the achievement, Helen O’Connor, Regional General Manager, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific for British Airways, emphasised the rigorous standards met by SAHCO.

“The award is based on meeting or exceeding the adjusted door closure (aDC) target of 96% every month for four consecutive quarters, with no major safety events or repeat audit findings,” she stated.

Helen O’Connor further described SAHCO’s consistency as a remarkable testament to the company’s operational excellence and reliability, extending heartfelt congratulations to the aviation handling company for its well-earned recognition.

This milestone is particularly significant as it marks the first time the British Airways team in Nigeria has secured this award, underscoring SAHCO’s role in setting new benchmarks in aviation ground handling within the region.

It is worth noting that SAHCO’s Abuja station had also demonstrated commendable performance, securing the bronze award in the final quarter of the year.

The British Airways Platinum Award is one of the most coveted honours within the airline’s operational network across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, further solidifying SAHCO’s standing as a leader in aviation ground handling services.
