Signature Hairstyles Shine at NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition Finals in Kano
The NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition, Darling Finals, held in Kano on October 7th, 2024, delivered a spectacular showcase of signature hairstyles as stylists from across the region demonstrated their skills and creativity.
The event, hosted at Keda Hall, Sabon Gari, became a captivating affair, with models gracing the stage in beautifully crafted traditional hairstyles that stole the spotlight.
Mrs Angela Akande, President of the National Association of Hair Stylists and Cosmetologists (NASHCO), expressed her delight at the remarkable turnout and the level of artistry displayed by the participants.
She announced her plans to expand the association’s presence by establishing offices in all 36 states of Nigeria.
Akande also revealed NASHCO’s ambition to collaborate with institutions both locally and internationally to integrate hairstyling into academic curricula, thereby professionalising the craft.
The event also featured an informative session led by Miebi, a representative of Kanekalon, who engaged the audience with a question-and-answer segment.
Miebi further delivered an insightful lecture on the popular Darling Duchess braid, followed by a demonstration of the flame-retardant properties of the materials, which provided a crucial learning moment for the stylists in attendance.
The NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition has earned a reputation for its commitment to a fair and transparent selection process, aimed at encouraging skill development and promoting growth within the hairstyling industry.
This year’s finals once again lived up to its promise, offering a platform for Nigeria’s top stylists to exhibit their creativity and passion for hair artistry.
