Suleiman emerges chairman as LAAC welcomes new executive members
Idris Suleiman has emerged as the new Chairman of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), following the election of a new executive team.
The election, held at the Saleh Dunoma Press Centre at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, also saw Abdullateef Aliyu elected as Vice Chairman, and Anthony Awunor appointed as Secretary.
Completing the executive lineup are Ifeoma Okeke as Assistant Secretary, Lamidi Morufu as Treasurer, and Pearl Ngwama as Auditor.
Suleiman, currently serving as the Transport Editor with Blueprint Newspaper, succeeds Olusegun Koiki, who held the position for two terms.
The newly elected officials, sworn in immediately after the election by LAAC Electoral Committee Chairman, Franklin Ihejiirika, are mandated to serve the association for a three-year term.
In his address following the swearing-in ceremony, Suleiman expressed gratitude to the voters for entrusting him with the role of Chairman. He pledged to collaborate with stakeholders within the aviation industry to foster its development.
He emphasized the importance of stakeholders’ continued collaboration with LAAC, stressing the necessity for a positive narrative in the industry.
“As the catalyst for development in the sector, LAAC remains committed to scrutinizing and contributing to the industry’s growth as journalists,” Suleiman remarked. He encouraged members to provide constructive advice for the association’s advancement.
LAAC, Nigeria’s sole aviation media umbrella body registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), is tasked with ensuring effective media coverage and practice within the aviation sector.
