Max Air Suspends Domestic Flights for 90 Days to Enhance Operational Standards

Max Air has announced a 90-day suspension of its domestic flight operations, effective from midnight on 31 January 2025.

In a statement released by the airline’s management, Max Air emphasised that the decision was a proactive measure designed to facilitate an extensive internal operational evaluation.

The airline reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority, stating that the temporary suspension would enable it to exceed industry standards and restore public confidence in its operations.

“All affected booked passengers during the suspension period are enjoined to receive full refunds or rebooking options with partner airlines,” the statement read.

Max Air assured customers that its customer service team would be readily available to assist affected passengers with their travel arrangements.

Furthermore, the airline confirmed that it is working closely with aviation authorities to ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements.

While expressing regret over the temporary inconvenience, Max Air reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing service quality and reliability.

“We deeply regret the temporary inconvenience this will cause our valued domestic customers.

“However, we believe this investment in safety and reliability will significantly enhance our service quality delivery for years to come,” the airline stated.

Max Air has assured the public that regular updates regarding the status of its operations will be provided through its official website and verified social media channels.

The airline suffered a nose wheel landing gear collapse and a rear tyre burst while touching down on Runway 06/24 at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on the night of 28 January 2024, at approximately 10:50 local time.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737, had 53 passengers and 6 crew members on board at the time of the incident. No fatalities were recorded.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has since commenced investigation into the incident to unravel the cause.
