Nigeria Customs Issues First PAAR Under B’Odogwu Trade Management System

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has successfully issued the first Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) under the newly introduced B’Odogwu Trade Management System.
This milestone underscores the Service’s commitment to modernising trade facilitation through homegrown technological advancements.
According to a statement signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, spokesman of the Service, the issuance of the first PAAR follows a recent high-level engagement between the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso.
Both institutions reaffirmed their shared dedication to fostering seamless trade processes, improving revenue collection, and enhancing financial integration.
The B’Odogwu system, an indigenous replacement for the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS II), is designed to revolutionise Customs operations.
Its key features include enhanced efficiency in trade documentation, strengthened inter-agency collaboration, and improved overall trade management.
During its pilot phase at the Port and Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Customs Area Command, stakeholders—including government agencies—were actively engaged to ensure a smooth transition.
The successful issuance of the first PAAR under B’Odogwu signals the beginning of a nationwide rollout aimed at streamlining Customs procedures and enhancing trade facilitation.
The NCS has assured the trading community that all necessary approvals and integrations with financial institutions, including Authorised Dealer Banks (ADBs), will be finalised to enable seamless foreign exchange transactions and trade-related payments.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and his management team have expressed appreciation for the continued support of stakeholders.
The Service encourages traders and businesses to adopt the B’Odogwu platform, which promises greater efficiency, transparency, and a technology-driven approach to Customs processes.
This latest achievement highlights the NCS’s resolve to leverage digital transformation for a more robust and effective trade management system in Nigeria.
