The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has achieved a major milestone in its quest to strengthen air traffic management and capacity development with the official certification of its Air Traffic Control (ATC) Simulator by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The certification was formally handed over to NAMA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, by the Director of Air Traffic Control at NCAA, Mr. John Tayo, in a brief ceremony held in Abuja.

While presenting the Certificate, Mr. Tayo highlighted the crucial role played by the Local Management at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) and the Department of Technical Evaluation and Manpower Development within the Directorate of Air Traffic Control.

He lauded their dedication and technical input, noting that their joint efforts were instrumental in securing the certification.

In his remarks, Engr. Umar expressed delight over the recognition, describing it as a “collective achievement” for the agency. He commended the synergy between various teams that worked tirelessly to deliver the project and reaffirmed NAMA’s commitment to prioritising manpower development and operational efficiency.

According to him, the ATC Simulator will serve as a game-changer for the agency by equipping air traffic controllers with modern tools for training, improving operational readiness, and ensuring safer and more efficient management of Nigeria’s airspace.

“This certification is not just a mark of compliance but a statement of our commitment to international best practices in air traffic management,” Engr. Umar stated.

The development is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s position in global aviation, enhance safety standards, and provide continuous capacity building for professionals in the aviation sector.
