FAAN Announces Partial Closure of Lagos Airport Road for NAF Fitness Exercise

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a temporary partial closure of the access road leading to the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on Saturday, 18th October 2025, due to a scheduled fitness exercise by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

According to a statement issued by the Authority, the exercise – a 10-kilometre walk/jog – is part of the Nigerian Air Force’s annual fitness routine and will affect vehicular movement between the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) from 06:00 hours.

FAAN assured travellers, airport users, and members of the public that security personnel would be stationed along the access routes to guide traffic and ensure the safety of road users throughout the duration of the exercise.

The Authority emphasised that flight operations would not be affected, stating that all scheduled domestic and international flights would proceed as planned. “This does not in any way disrupt airport operations, as scheduled flights will operate normally,” the statement read.

FAAN further noted that the access roads would be reopened immediately after the completion of the exercise. However, passengers and other airport users were advised to plan their movements early and anticipate mild traffic disruptions within the airport vicinity during the event.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the travelling public,” the statement added.

The annual exercise underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining the physical fitness of its personnel, while FAAN continues to ensure the seamless coordination of airport activities in collaboration with security agencies.
