Air Peace Reschedules Lagos–London Flight After Mid-Air Airspace Disruption
Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has announced the rescheduling of its Lagos–London Gatwick service following an operational disruption linked to airspace access issues involving the authorities of an unnamed African country.
In a statement issued by the airline’s management, Air Peace disclosed that the incident affected its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick flight of 13 May 2026.
According to the airline, the aircraft encountered enroute access complications while operating through the airspace of the unnamed country, prompting the crew to take precautionary measures in line with international aviation safety standards.
The airline explained that, following the development and the need for immediate operational clarification with the relevant airspace authorities, the aircraft safely returned to Lagos.
Air Peace noted that the decision to return the aircraft was made in accordance with established international aviation procedures aimed at ensuring passenger safety and operational compliance.
As a consequence of the disruption, the Lagos–London Gatwick service was rescheduled while efforts were made to resolve the matter with the concerned authorities.
The airline said affected passengers were promptly informed about the situation and assured that support measures were put in place to reduce inconvenience.
According to the statement, the arrangements included regular communication updates, support services, and other necessary assistance for passengers impacted by the disruption.
Air Peace apologised to travellers for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected development, describing the incident as one beyond the airline’s control.
The carrier reiterated its commitment to operational integrity, strict regulatory compliance, and the maintenance of high standards of passenger service across its domestic and international network.
