Jetour T1 Targets Abuja SUV Market as Brand Deepens Nigerian Expansion

Jetour Nigeria is set to introduce its all-new T1 SUV to motorists and motoring enthusiasts in Abuja as the automaker steps up efforts to expand its footprint in Nigeria and tap into growing demand for adventure-oriented sport utility vehicles.

The T1 will be one of the major attractions at the Jetour Experience Abuja, scheduled to hold from September 22 to 24, 2026, at the Maha Event Centre, Area 8, Garki.

The three-day motoring event follows the Lagos edition of the Jetour Experience, which the company said generated strong participation, extensive test drives and significant sales enquiries.

Jetour Nigeria said rising interest in its products among customers in Abuja also influenced the decision to take the activation to the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the company, the Abuja experience is designed to provide potential customers with direct access to its vehicle range while allowing them to examine the capabilities and technology of the products through demonstrations, technical sessions and test drives.

The T1 is expected to receive particular attention during the event, with Jetour positioning the model as a vehicle that bridges the gap between urban motoring and off-road adventure.

The SUV combines a rugged exterior and four-wheel-drive capability with a range of comfort, connectivity and driver-assistance technologies targeted at modern motorists.

The T1 measures 4,705mm long, 1,967mm wide and 1,843mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,800mm.

Under the bonnet, the model is offered with 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged powertrain options. The 2.0-litre turbo variant is rated at up to 254 horsepower and 390Nm of torque.

Power is delivered through BorgWarner XWD Intelligent four-wheel-drive technology, with transmission options including a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jetour said the drivetrain and chassis configuration are designed to provide the T1 with the flexibility to handle both city roads and more demanding terrain.

Its off-road specifications include 199mm of ground clearance and a claimed wading depth of 600mm. The vehicle also has 28-degree approach and departure angles, features that are intended to improve its ability to negotiate uneven surfaces and obstacles.

Beyond its mechanical capabilities, the T1 has been equipped with technology aimed at enhancing the driving and passenger experience.

The cabin features a 15.6-inch high-definition touchscreen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 platform, while an eight-speaker audio system provides the entertainment system.

The five-seat SUV also offers 574 litres of rear luggage capacity, giving it space for luggage and other equipment during family journeys and recreational trips.

Safety is another area where Jetour is seeking to distinguish the T1, with the vehicle built using an 85 per cent high-strength steel chassis.

It also comes with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), incorporating a range of electronic safety and driver-support functions.

Among the features are Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

The company said the combination of active safety systems, structural strength and driver-assistance technology is aimed at providing greater protection and convenience for occupants.

Jetour’s Abuja activation comes against the backdrop of its broader efforts to establish a stronger sales and service network across Nigeria.

The automaker currently has seven accredited dealers: Elizade Nigeria Limited, New Era AutoVehicle Services Limited, Kojo Motors, Germaine Auto Centre, Tab Autos Limited, R.T. Briscoe Motors and Mandilas Autos.

The dealer network covers vehicle sales, the supply of genuine spare parts and after-sales maintenance services.

The expansion of the network is expected to support the company’s efforts to improve customer access to its products and services as more of its models enter the Nigerian market.

Jetour Nigeria has also pointed to a number of local and international automotive recognitions secured since the brand entered the Nigerian market, including Fastest Growing Auto Brand of the Year and Auto Brand of the Year.

The company said such recognition, combined with customer response to its products, had encouraged it to broaden its engagement with motorists across the country.

For the Abuja edition, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the T1 and other Jetour models through demonstrations and test drives, while technical sessions will provide additional information about the vehicles’ specifications and operating features.

The event is expected to give Jetour an opportunity to engage directly with Abuja-based customers and other stakeholders while gathering feedback on the preferences of motorists in the capital.

With the T1 combining four-wheel-drive technology, turbocharged powertrains, increased ground clearance, modern cabin technology and advanced driver-assistance features, Jetour is targeting a segment of the Nigerian market where customers increasingly seek vehicles capable of serving both daily urban transportation and leisure-oriented driving needs.

The Abuja event therefore forms part of the company’s wider strategy to take its products beyond Lagos and build a broader customer base supported by an expanding dealer and after-sales network.
