Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of Nigeria’s beauty industry and women-owned businesses, pledging continued support for entrepreneurs through access to finance, business development initiatives and digital payment solutions.

The bank reiterated its commitment at the commemorative dinner and awards ceremony of Beauty in the Motherland 2026, held at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on October 6.

The ceremony, which celebrated creativity, enterprise and impact across the beauty and lifestyle industry, formed part of the three-day Beauty in the Motherland 2026 programme that attracted more than 3,000 attendees and over 300 exhibitors from various segments of the industry.

These included skincare, haircare, fragrance, cosmetics, wellness and other related businesses, reflecting the growing diversity of Nigeria’s beauty market and the opportunities available to entrepreneurs operating within the sector.

Hosted by television personality Nancy Isime and content creator Enioluwa Adeoluwa, the dinner brought together entrepreneurs, industry leaders, investors, creatives and other stakeholders to celebrate achievements and explore opportunities for further growth.

The event also featured a musical performance by Nigerian singer Yemi Alade.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a special recognition award to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, in acknowledgement of her leadership and the bank’s contribution to the development of Beauty in the Motherland and the wider beauty enterprise ecosystem in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Onyeali-Ikpe said the bank’s sponsorship of the initiative for the third consecutive year reflected its confidence in the beauty industry’s potential and the entrepreneurial talent driving its growth.

She described the African beauty industry as vibrant, innovative and increasingly connected to global markets, noting that entrepreneurs in the sector required the right combination of financial support, business knowledge and market access to build sustainable enterprises.

According to her, Fidelity Bank would continue to support entrepreneurs with the resources and opportunities needed to develop their businesses, expand their customer base and compete more effectively.

The recognition further underscored the growing role of financial institutions in supporting businesses within the beauty value chain, an industry significantly driven by women entrepreneurs and young business owners.

Beyond sponsoring the dinner and exhibition, Fidelity Bank provided participating businesses with a range of banking services, including account opening, payment solutions and advisory support.

The bank also served as the exclusive point-of-sale (POS) provider for the event, facilitating transactions and collections for vendors while encouraging the adoption of digital payment solutions among exhibitors and other participants.

Among the products showcased were Fidelity POS Instant Settlement, PayGate Plus and SME accounts, which were presented as tools to help businesses manage payments, improve transaction efficiency and access appropriate banking services.

Representatives of the bank also engaged exhibitors on financial management, business expansion and the importance of adopting suitable financial solutions to support their operations.

The participation formed part of Fidelity Bank’s broader strategy to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly businesses seeking to formalise their operations, improve financial management and expand into new markets.

Beauty in the Motherland 2026 featured exhibitions, product showcases, competitions, networking sessions and business discussions designed to connect entrepreneurs with customers, distributors, business partners and potential investors.

The platform enabled participating businesses to display their products, increase brand visibility and explore commercial relationships that could support their growth beyond the event.

Organisers Beatrice Obinna Eneh and Linda Edozien said the initiative was established to celebrate and advance the human and natural resources underpinning the African beauty industry.

They said its long-term ambition was to strengthen the structures supporting the industry, empower entrepreneurs and improve access to markets, thereby creating more opportunities for businesses across the beauty and lifestyle value chain.

The organisers’ vision reflects the growing importance of platforms that bring together producers, service providers, investors and other industry stakeholders to promote collaboration and unlock commercial opportunities.

For many small businesses, such platforms provide opportunities to reach new customers, obtain market feedback, establish distribution relationships and gain visibility in an increasingly competitive environment.

However, access to finance, business development support and efficient payment infrastructure remains important to helping entrepreneurs translate market opportunities into sustainable growth.

Fidelity Bank has continued to support small businesses through several initiatives, including the Fidelity SME Hub, Fidelity Quarterly Business Forum, SME masterclasses, HerFidelity and FundHer.

The initiatives provide varying forms of support, including financing, capacity development, business advisory services, digital solutions and market access opportunities.

Through these programmes, the bank seeks to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge and resources required to strengthen their businesses, improve operational efficiency and pursue expansion opportunities.

Its involvement in Beauty in the Motherland also highlights the potential for partnerships between financial institutions and industry platforms to support businesses beyond conventional banking services.

By combining financial products with advisory support, networking opportunities and digital payment infrastructure, such partnerships can help businesses improve their operations and build stronger foundations for long-term growth.

The successful conclusion of the commemorative dinner and awards ceremony reinforced the importance of recognising entrepreneurs, professionals and institutions contributing to the development of Nigeria’s beauty industry.

It also highlighted the need for sustained collaboration among financial institutions, industry organisers, investors and entrepreneurs to strengthen the sector’s commercial prospects and enhance its competitiveness.

Through its continued partnership with Beauty in the Motherland, Fidelity Bank is seeking to consolidate its position as a financial partner to Nigeria’s beauty industry, with particular emphasis on supporting women-owned businesses and small enterprises looking to expand their reach and build sustainable operations.
