Fidelity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of Nigeria’s beauty industry and women-owned businesses, as it received recognition for its contribution to the sector at the commemorative dinner and awards ceremony of Beauty in the Motherland 2026 in Lagos.

The ceremony, held on October 6 at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, brought together entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, creatives and other stakeholders to celebrate innovation, enterprise and outstanding contributions to the beauty and lifestyle industry.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of a special recognition award to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, in acknowledgement of her leadership and the bank’s contribution to the development of Beauty in the Motherland and the broader beauty business ecosystem in Nigeria.

The recognition also underscored the growing importance of financial institutions in supporting small businesses, particularly enterprises owned by women and young entrepreneurs, who constitute a significant part of the beauty industry.

Speaking at the event, Onyeali-Ikpe said Fidelity Bank’s sponsorship of Beauty in the Motherland for the third consecutive year demonstrated its confidence in the sector’s potential and the entrepreneurs driving its growth.

She described the African beauty industry as vibrant, innovative and increasingly positioned to compete in international markets, noting that sustained investment in entrepreneurs and business development would be essential to unlocking its full potential.

According to her, the bank remains committed to equipping business owners with the knowledge, financial resources, market access and other tools required to establish sustainable enterprises.

She added that supporting entrepreneurs went beyond providing financial services to creating opportunities for them to improve their business operations, expand their customer base and compete more effectively in an evolving marketplace.

The partnership reflects Fidelity Bank’s broader strategy of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially women-owned businesses, through financial inclusion, capacity development and access to business opportunities.

Beauty in the Motherland 2026 was organised as a three-day programme that attracted more than 3,000 attendees and over 300 exhibitors across various segments of the beauty and lifestyle market.

The participating businesses showcased products and services spanning skincare, haircare, fragrances, cosmetics, wellness and related industries, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to connect with consumers, distributors, investors and potential business partners.

Hosted by media personalities Nancy Isime and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, the commemorative dinner attracted leading figures from the business and creative communities. Nigerian music star Yemi Alade also entertained guests with a musical performance.

Beyond sponsoring the event, Fidelity Bank provided participating businesses with a range of banking and financial services designed to support their commercial activities during the programme.

The bank offered account-opening assistance, payment solutions and advisory services to exhibitors, while serving as the event’s exclusive point-of-sale (POS) provider.

Through this arrangement, vendors were able to receive payments for their products and services using the bank’s payment infrastructure, while the initiative encouraged greater adoption of digital payment solutions among businesses in the beauty value chain.

Products showcased by the bank included Fidelity POS Instant Settlement, PayGate Plus and its SME accounts, which are designed to support business transactions and financial management.

The bank’s representatives also engaged exhibitors on issues relating to financial planning, business expansion and the selection of banking services suited to their operational needs.

The initiative highlighted the growing role of digital financial solutions in helping small businesses improve transaction efficiency, manage cash flows and respond to changing consumer payment preferences.

For many beauty entrepreneurs, access to reliable payment systems and appropriate financial services remains important as they seek to scale their operations, strengthen customer relationships and expand beyond their immediate markets.

The Beauty in the Motherland programme featured exhibitions, product showcases, competitions, networking sessions and business discussions aimed at promoting enterprise development across the sector.

The activities provided participating businesses with opportunities to introduce new products, engage prospective customers and explore partnerships with distributors, investors and other players in the industry.

Organisers Beatrice Obinna Eneh and Linda Edozien said the initiative was established to celebrate and advance the human and natural resources underpinning the African beauty industry.

They explained that its long-term objective was to strengthen the industry’s structures, empower entrepreneurs and improve access to markets, thereby creating opportunities for businesses to grow and contribute more meaningfully to economic development.

The initiative also seeks to draw attention to the commercial opportunities within Africa’s beauty market by creating a platform where businesses can showcase their capabilities, exchange ideas and build relationships that support long-term growth.

Fidelity Bank’s involvement in the programme aligns with its existing efforts to support SMEs through several business development initiatives, including the Fidelity SME Hub, Fidelity Quarterly Business Forum, SME masterclasses, HerFidelity and FundHer.

These platforms provide entrepreneurs with access to financing, business advisory services, capacity-building programmes, digital solutions and market access opportunities.

Through these interventions, the bank seeks to address some of the challenges confronting small businesses, including limited access to finance, inadequate business management knowledge and difficulties in reaching new customers and markets.

Its HerFidelity initiative also reflects its focus on women’s economic empowerment, while FundHer provides a platform for supporting women entrepreneurs seeking to develop and expand their businesses.

The recognition of Onyeali-Ikpe at Beauty in the Motherland 2026 therefore represents not only an acknowledgement of her leadership but also a broader recognition of the importance of institutional support in building a sustainable beauty industry.

As Nigerian beauty brands continue to explore opportunities for expansion, partnerships between financial institutions, industry organisers and entrepreneurs are expected to play an important role in strengthening the sector’s commercial foundations.

The success of the commemorative dinner and awards ceremony further highlighted the contributions of entrepreneurs, professionals and institutions working across the beauty value chain.

With its continued partnership with Beauty in the Motherland, Fidelity Bank is seeking to strengthen its position as a financial partner to the Nigerian beauty industry, while supporting women-owned businesses and other small enterprises working to transform their creativity and expertise into sustainable commercial ventures.
