Air Peace Launches Lagos–Conakry–Bamako Flights, Expands West African Network
Air Peace has strengthened its regional footprint with the launch of scheduled flight operations on the Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route, a move aimed at boosting connectivity, trade and economic integration across West Africa.
The inaugural flight departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, marking another milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy across the African continent.
The new service links Nigeria’s commercial capital with the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Mali, creating additional opportunities for business, tourism, cultural exchange and easier movement of people within the sub-region.
An Air Peace delegation led by the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustine Kamano, was received on arrival at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry by Guinea’s Minister of Transport, Mr Ousmane Gaoul Diallo, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Ambassador Umaru Kamfu, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Thiam Oumar Sekou, and members of the Nigerian community in the country.
Speaking during the reception, Guinea’s Minister of Transport described the commencement of Air Peace operations as a major step towards strengthening relations between Nigeria and Guinea.
Diallo said the direct air link would facilitate greater movement of people, enhance trade and create fresh economic opportunities between both countries.
Also speaking, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Thiam Oumar Sekou, welcomed the airline’s entry into the Guinean market, stressing that improved air connectivity would support aviation development and promote regional integration across West Africa.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Ambassador Umaru Kamfu, commended Air Peace for extending its network across the continent, noting that the route would further deepen bilateral ties while providing Nigerians, Guineans and other regional travellers with more convenient travel options.
Speaking on behalf of Air Peace, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Nowel Ngala, described the inaugural service as another landmark in the airline’s mission to improve connectivity across Africa.
He explained that the Conakry and Bamako services formed part of Air Peace’s broader strategy of building a comprehensive African network that allows passengers travelling from various domestic destinations within Nigeria to connect seamlessly through Lagos to regional and international destinations, including London and the Caribbean.
Ngala reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to bringing African cities closer together through improved connectivity, greater passenger convenience and expanded access to business and tourism opportunities.
Following its stop in Conakry, the inaugural flight continued to Bamako, where it landed at Modibo Keita International Airport.
The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Mr Abdrahamane Farota, and the Technical Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Mr Bahide Konandji, who represented the Director General of Mali Airport. Members of the Nigerian community in Mali were also present at the reception.
Farota praised Air Peace for extending its operations into Mali, saying the route would strengthen aviation links between Nigeria and Mali while opening up new opportunities for commerce, tourism and broader economic cooperation.
Representing the Director General of Mali Airport, Konandji described the airline’s arrival as a positive development for the country’s aviation industry and an important contribution to regional integration.
He expressed confidence that the new service would simplify travel between Mali, Nigeria and other destinations served by Air Peace across Africa.
Members of the Nigerian community in Mali also welcomed the new route, saying it would significantly reduce travel challenges while strengthening ties between Nigerians and Malians.
With the addition of Conakry and Bamako, Air Peace now operates services to 13 destinations across West Africa, further consolidating its position as one of the region’s leading carriers.
The airline said the expansion, achieved within just 11 years of commencing commercial operations, reflects its commitment to opening new routes, expanding Nigeria’s aviation footprint and positioning Lagos as a strategic gateway for travel across Africa and beyond.
