Apapa Customs Sets New Daily Revenue Record with N28.1bn Collection in 24 Hours

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection, generating N28.1 billion within 24 hours.

The Command said it collected exactly N28,102,000,914.61 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surpassing its previous daily revenue record of N20.1 billion achieved in September 2025.

The latest milestone came barely weeks after the Apapa Command announced a record monthly revenue collection of N323 billion in July 2026, highlighting what the Service described as sustained improvements in compliance, trade facilitation, intelligence-driven enforcement and the deployment of digital Customs processes.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman, today – Wednesday, August 19, 2026, said the latest achievement went beyond setting a new revenue record, stressing that the funds generated by the Service contribute to the Federal Government’s ability to finance critical national development priorities.

Oshoba said the revenue generated by the NCS forms part of government resources deployed towards infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services that directly affect the welfare of Nigerians.

He dedicated the latest milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the management of the Service for their support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at improving Customs operations.

According to him, the reforms have helped to make Customs processes more efficient, transparent and business-friendly, while encouraging greater compliance among operators within the nation’s maritime trade ecosystem.

The CAC also attributed the achievement to the cooperation of compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders operating through the Apapa port.

He further acknowledged the contributions of Nigerians who have provided actionable intelligence to the Service, noting that collaboration between Customs and stakeholders remained essential to improving revenue collection while facilitating legitimate trade.

Oshoba stressed that every compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging importers, exporters, Customs agents and other stakeholders to continue supporting lawful trade and complying with applicable Customs regulations.

He said a stronger revenue base would provide the government with greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens, fund development programmes and create a more conducive environment for businesses to operate and grow.

The Customs Area Controller, however, cautioned officers and men of the Command against complacency following the record performance.

He directed personnel to regard the latest revenue milestone as a greater responsibility to improve their performance, insisting that revenue collection must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.

Oshoba also directed officers to ensure that legitimate disputes involving businesses are resolved promptly and that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily impede lawful commercial activities.

He said the Command would continue to pursue measures aimed at sustaining its revenue performance while ensuring that the core responsibility of facilitating legitimate trade was not compromised.

The Apapa Area Command has in recent months emerged as a major contributor to the revenue objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service, with its latest daily and monthly collections reflecting the increasing volume of revenue passing through one of the country’s most important trade gateways.

The Command said it remained committed to sustaining the momentum through enhanced revenue generation, improved trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger collaboration with stakeholders.

It added that the objective was to ensure that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s capacity to deliver on its development priorities and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
