DYTM Congratulates Okowa on Delta North APC Senatorial Primary Victory

The Delta Youth Transformation Team (DYTM) has congratulated former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, following his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North Senatorial District primary election.

In a statement issued by the group’s leadership, led by President Sir Isioma Melekwe and Secretary Dr Tola Ajimisogbe, the organisation described Okowa’s emergence as the APC candidate as a reflection of the confidence and trust party members across Delta North have in his leadership capacity, political experience and grassroots appeal.

According to the Returning Officer for the exercise, Mr Eugene Odo, Okowa secured a landslide victory after polling 113,309 votes to defeat fellow aspirant, Ned Nwoko, who garnered 2,612 votes. Another contender, Mariam Ali, reportedly received 40 votes.

The primary election was conducted using the direct primary system, popularly known as Option A4, across all wards in the eight local government areas that make up the Delta North Senatorial District.

Party officials described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and credible, with a strong turnout of APC members participating in the process.

Reacting to the outcome, DYTM praised the APC leadership for organising what it called a smooth and democratic primary election, noting that the process further demonstrated the party’s commitment to internal democracy.

The group also urged party faithful and stakeholders across the senatorial district to close ranks and work together in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

DYTM further reaffirmed its commitment to youth mobilisation, political participation and support for leaders it described as capable of advancing development and inclusive governance in Delta State.

The statement added that the group remains anchored under the leadership of its Patron, Chief Nkem Okwuofu Agunwayi, alongside its Media Directorate Secretary, Prince Philip Igwenwanne, who also serves as Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Governor.
