NAMA Alerts Public to Fake Recruitment, Appointment Letters
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has raised the alarm over the activities of fraudsters impersonating the agency and issuing fake recruitment and appointment letters to unsuspecting members of the public.
In a public notice issued on August 24, 2026, NAMA expressed serious concern over what it described as a disturbing development aimed at exploiting innocent job seekers and undermining the integrity and corporate identity of the agency.
The agency made it clear that it is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise, warning that individuals, groups or organisations claiming to recruit or facilitate employment on its behalf are doing so without its knowledge, approval or authorisation.
NAMA, which is responsible for the management and safety of Nigeria’s airspace, said members of the public should exercise utmost vigilance to avoid falling victim to the fraudulent schemes.
“For the avoidance of doubt, NAMA is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise,” the agency stated.
“Accordingly, any individual, group or organisation claiming to recruit, facilitate employment or issue appointment letters on behalf of NAMA is acting without the knowledge, approval or authorisation of the agency.”
The warning comes amid concerns over the increasing activities of fraudsters targeting job seekers through fake employment opportunities, forged appointment letters and misleading messages circulated through unofficial channels, including social media platforms.
NAMA cautioned members of the public against making payments or providing sensitive personal information to anyone claiming to offer employment opportunities on behalf of the agency.
The agency also urged prospective applicants and other members of the public to independently verify any recruitment notice, employment communication or appointment letter purportedly issued by NAMA through its recognised official channels before taking any action.
It specifically advised the public to disregard unofficial correspondence, social media messages and representations made by unauthorised intermediaries who claim to be acting for the agency.
NAMA further stressed that it does not authorise any individual or third party to solicit money, fees or any other form of consideration in exchange for employment.
The agency said any suspected case of impersonation or fraudulent representation should be promptly reported to the appropriate authorities.
According to NAMA, members of the public must take responsibility for verifying employment-related communications before entering into transactions with persons or groups claiming to represent the agency.
It warned that it would not accept responsibility for losses or other consequences arising from dealings with fraudsters or unauthorised persons falsely claiming to act on its behalf.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NAMA, Dr Abdullahi Musa, who signed the statement, said the agency remained committed to transparency, institutional integrity and protecting members of the public from fraudulent activities.
The agency’s latest alert is expected to serve as a warning to job seekers and the general public to remain cautious and rely only on NAMA’s official and recognised communication channels for information relating to recruitment and employment opportunities.
NAMA urged anyone who receives a suspicious recruitment offer or appointment letter bearing the agency’s name to verify its authenticity before responding, making any payment or releasing personal information.
