NCAA Certifies Six Aviation Security Institutions to Strengthen Nigeria’s AVSEC Standards

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has issued Aviation Security (AVSEC) Authorisation Certificates to six institutions and service providers as part of efforts to strengthen aviation security standards, regulatory compliance, and operational professionalism within Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The certificates were presented during a ceremony held in Lagos on Thursday, May 21, 2026, where the authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all aviation security operators comply with globally accepted regulatory requirements.

The institutions certified by the NCAA are the FAAN Aviation Training School, Maiken Security and Consultancy Services Limited, Chigurad Services Nigeria Limited, Safety Signatures Limited, Jomaric Security Service Nigeria Limited, and Vani Security.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, who was represented by the Director of Aviation Security Regulation at the NCAA, Dr. Bernard Omogo, stressed that certification remained a compulsory requirement for all organisations involved in aviation security operations.

According to him, the approval process is strictly based on compliance with established regulatory standards and operational benchmarks designed to enhance safety and security across the aviation ecosystem.

Omogo noted that the certification exercise underscores the authority’s resolve to ensure that aviation security institutions maintain high standards of professionalism, competence, and adherence to both national and international aviation security regulations.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Training and Certification, AVSEC, Dr. Hamza Ibrahim, described the exercise as marking a new phase of verification for aviation security service providers.

He explained that while some of the organisations underwent renewal processes, others received the unified NCAA certification for the first time.

He added that the validity period of the certification had now been extended from two years to three years, a development expected to provide greater operational stability and continuity for certified providers.

The event attracted top officials of the NCAA alongside representatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Ministry of Aviation, and several stakeholders and operators within the aviation security sector.

In their separate remarks during the vote of thanks, representatives of the certified service providers commended the NCAA for the initiative, describing the certification exercise as a significant step towards enhancing standards and credibility within the aviation security industry.

They also pledged continued compliance with aviation security regulations and reaffirmed their commitment to professionalism, operational excellence, and global best practices in the discharge of their responsibilities.
