NCAT Secures Sixth Straight ICAO Platinum Status, Reinforcing Nigeria’s Global Aviation Training Leadership
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) has once again affirmed its position as a global leader in aviation training, clinching its sixth consecutive Platinum Level Status award from the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The prestigious recognition was received by NCAT’s Rector and Chief Executive, Dr Danjuma Ismaila, during the ongoing Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS) taking place in Morocco.
The award underscores the institution’s sustained excellence in aviation capacity development and its commitment to meeting global training standards.
GISS, widely regarded as ICAO’s flagship implementation event, serves as a high-level platform that brings together aviation regulators, industry leaders, and service providers from across member states.
The symposium is designed to support countries in implementing international aviation standards, policies, and best practices, while fostering collaboration and technical assistance.

Speaking at the event, ICAO officials highlighted that the Platinum Status is reserved for institutions that demonstrate exceptional performance in delivering high-quality aviation training and capacity-building programmes.
NCAT’s consistent attainment of this top-tier recognition over six consecutive years places it among an elite group of global training institutions.
The symposium also focuses on addressing critical challenges within the aviation sector, including safety, security, sustainability, and air navigation efficiency.
By facilitating knowledge exchange and targeted support, ICAO aims to help member states bridge existing gaps and maintain compliance with evolving global aviation requirements.
NCAT’s continued recognition at the highest level reflects its strategic role in advancing aviation training not only within Nigeria but across Africa and beyond.
The institution has long been regarded as a cornerstone of human capital development in the aviation industry, producing skilled professionals who contribute to safer and more efficient air transport systems worldwide.
Industry observers note that the college’s sustained Platinum Status reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence in global aviation training and highlights the country’s commitment to aligning with international standards in the sector.
With this latest achievement, NCAT further consolidates its reputation as a centre of excellence, maintaining a frontline position among ICAO member states and setting a benchmark for aviation training institutions globally.
