MMA Customs Command Records Historic N180 Billion Revenue in 2024
…Achieves Anti-Smuggling Milestones
The Murtala Muhammed Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has unveiled an impressive scorecard for 2024, reflecting its achievements in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and stakeholder engagement.
The announcement was made by Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe, who commended the officers, stakeholders, and management for their unwavering dedication to the Command’s mission.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the Murtala Muhammed Area Command, CSC V.U. Ogagbor, the Command, in 2024, achieved a landmark revenue generation of N180,750,786,844.36, nearly doubling the N90,426,185,447.01 collected in 2023.
This represents a remarkable increase of N90,324,601,397.35 or 99.89%. Notably, the Command exceeded its 2024 revenue target of N179,739,241,526.36 by N1,011,545,282.00, a modest but significant increase of 0.56%.
Comptroller Awe attributed this milestone to the Command’s steadfast commitment to excellence and its rigorous enforcement of government fiscal policies.
“This feat demonstrates our constant dedication to enforcing government fiscal policies and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism,” he said.
In its efforts to combat illicit trade, the Command recorded substantial seizures of contraband items in 2024, with a Duty-Paid Value (DPV) of N10,511,889,799. These included:

50 rounds of 9mm live ammunition
54 packages of military hardware
46 packages of dried sea cucumber
3 packages of dried donkey male genitals
55 pieces of Jozef
Tomahawk semi-automatic rifles
50 packages of dried Canadian cannabis
225 drones
250 turtles
1 package of pangolin skin
1 package containing porcupine thorns and mineral stones
“These seizures highlight our relentless pursuit of safeguarding the nation and protecting citizens from the dangers posed by illicit trade,” Comptroller Awe remarked.
Comptroller Awe emphasised the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, sister agencies, and the media, noting that the Command has maintained an open-door policy to resolve shared challenges.
“The synergy we have cultivated has been instrumental in our success, and we deeply appreciate the support and cooperation of our partners,” he said.
He assured the public that the Command would continue to innovate, block loopholes, and implement effective strategies to achieve its goals in revenue collection and trade facilitation while upholding Customs laws and regulations.
Comptroller Awe expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and his management team for their unwavering support.
He also commended the dedication of the officers and the cooperation of stakeholders and sister agencies.
