MMA2 Scoops Best Cargo Airport Award at CHINET as Jibodu Makes Top 50 Air Cargo Personalities

Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2), the flagship terminal managed by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), has been recognised as Nigeria’s Best Cargo Airport at the prestigious CHINET Aviation and Cargo Conference, held in conjunction with the 21st Akwaaba African Travel Market in Lagos.
In a further highlight of the ceremony, BASL’s Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautics and Cargo Services, Mr. Remi Jibodu, was named among Nigeria’s Top 50 Air Cargo Personalities, in acknowledgement of his leadership and investments in advancing the country’s air cargo sector.
The dual honours reflect MMA2’s steady rise as a benchmark for operational excellence in Nigeria’s aviation industry, with its cargo wing now earning plaudits for innovation and service delivery.
CHINET, regarded as West Africa’s only international cargo conference dedicated exclusively to aviation and logistics, continues to serve as a focal point for strengthening trade flows, facilitating dialogue between stakeholders, and recognising individuals who are charting new directions for the sector.
In his remarks at the event, Mr. Jibodu highlighted the opportunities and challenges confronting air cargo development in Nigeria. He stressed the urgent need for digital integration and innovative financing.
“The air cargo sector faces challenges such as weak digital presence, fragmented processes, low awareness, and limited dedicated freighter capacity,” he explained. “To unlock its full potential, we must invest in robust digital platforms that integrate the logistics ecosystem end-to-end, incentivise fleet and capacity development through innovative financing models, and adopt a collaborative P3 approach. Only then can we deliver the speed, transparency, and reliability the market demands.”
Echoing his sentiments, BASL’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, noted that the awards were a strong endorsement of MMA2’s consistent pursuit of excellence across all areas of operation.
“This recognition is another reminder that excellence is a journey, not a destination,” she said. “At MMA2, we have consistently raised the bar in creating a seamless passenger experience, and we are extending the same culture of continuous improvement to our cargo operations. Beyond serving travelling passengers, we are committed to providing the right infrastructure and support systems that facilitate trade, strengthen logistics, and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.”
The recognition of MMA2 and its Acting COO at the CHINET Awards reinforces the terminal’s legacy as Nigeria’s first privately funded airport terminal and a pioneer in shaping the country’s aviation and logistics landscape.
