Abuja Beauty Face-Off Competition Discovers New Makeup Stars as TMUFS Expands Industry Development Drive

The Makeup Fair Series (TMUFS) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing Nigeria’s beauty industry by providing a platform for emerging makeup artists to showcase their creativity and connect with opportunities through its Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC).

The initiative, which forms part of TMUFS’ social impact and industry development programmes, took centre stage during the 15th Abuja Makeup Fair (AMUF15), held on July 11 and 12, 2026, at Palme D’or Gardens, Garki 2, Abuja.

Designed to discover and promote emerging and mid-level makeup artists, the Beauty Face-Off Competition has become one of the organisation’s flagship talent development projects, offering participants exposure before industry professionals, beauty brands and prospective clients.

This year’s competition was held under the theme, “Born to Be Seen,” highlighting the importance of giving talented creatives the visibility needed to advance their careers in an increasingly competitive beauty industry.

Organisers said the initiative reflects TMUFS’ belief that the growth of Nigeria’s beauty sector depends not only on creating business opportunities for brands but also on investing in the professionals whose skills and innovation sustain the industry.

Interest in the Abuja edition was high, with more than 30 aspiring makeup artists submitting applications to participate. After a rigorous screening process, 10 finalists were selected to compete.

All the shortlisted contestants turned up for the live competition, recording a full participation rate and underscoring the enthusiasm of young professionals seeking to make their mark in the beauty industry.

Before a live audience and an experienced panel of judges, the contestants transformed the competition theme into artistic makeup creations, demonstrating originality, technical competence and creative storytelling through their work.

Following the judging process, Glambynemo emerged winner of the competition, while Facesbyada claimed the first runner-up position. Ellareebeauty finished as the second runner-up after impressing the judges with a strong performance.

Although only three contestants claimed the top prizes, TMUFS ensured that every finalist left with recognition for their efforts. The remaining seven participants received beauty products and gift packages donated by partner brands in appreciation of the dedication and creativity they displayed throughout the competition.

Among the brands that supported the initiative were Nuban Beauty, Omaricode Beauty, Msmetics, Niya Beauty, Paula Beauty, Deegutu Beauty, Chee Lashes, Voan Beauties, Kaima Cosmetics, Flirtshade Cosmetics, Ceendies Creation, Sylvimak, Champion Skin CPD, Juba Cosmetics, Barney Beauty Pro, Aniepro Cosmetics, Kleenup Cosmetics, Dr Kayla and Fillybeauty Cosmetics.

The organisers described the support from industry stakeholders as evidence of a growing commitment within the beauty sector to nurture young professionals and strengthen the industry’s talent pipeline.

They noted that while many makeup artists possess exceptional talent, limited access to exposure and professional networks often hinders career growth.

The Beauty Face-Off Competition was created to address this challenge by placing participants on a recognised platform where they can showcase their abilities to wider audiences.

According to TMUFS, the competition enables participants to enhance their portfolios, build confidence and establish relationships with beauty brands, consumers and other professionals who can contribute to their career development.

The organisation added that the initiative also recognises the evolving role of makeup artists, many of whom have expanded beyond providing beauty services to become educators, entrepreneurs, digital content creators and brand ambassadors, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s growing beauty economy.

By combining business exhibitions with talent development initiatives, TMUFS said it is helping to create a more sustainable ecosystem where both beauty brands and professionals can thrive.

The success of the Abuja competition has now shifted attention to Lagos, where preparations are underway for the 16th Beauty Face-Off Competition.

The next edition will be held on August 9, 2026, during the 19th Lagos Makeup Fair (LMUF19) Summer Edition at Classique Events Place, Oregun, Ikeja.

Organisers said the Lagos event will provide another opportunity for aspiring makeup artists to gain industry recognition while expanding collaborations with beauty brands, sponsors and other stakeholders committed to creating more opportunities for creative professionals in Nigeria and across Africa.
