Turkish Airlines, Air Peace Seal Interline Pact to Boost Nigeria’s Global Connectivity

A landmark aviation partnership has been forged between Turkish Airlines and Air Peace, following the activation of a bilateral Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) interline arrangement aimed at strengthening travel connectivity between Nigeria, Africa, and the wider global network.

Announced on 16 April 2026 in Istanbul and Lagos, the agreement is set to transform passenger experience by enabling seamless, single-ticket journeys across both airlines’ networks.

Travellers will benefit from coordinated flight schedules and simplified baggage handling on selected routes, eliminating the complexities typically associated with multi-leg international travel.

Under the interline arrangement, passengers flying with Turkish Airlines into Lagos can now connect effortlessly onto Air Peace’s extensive domestic and regional routes across Nigeria and West and Central Africa.

Conversely, Air Peace customers will gain access to Turkish Airlines’ expansive global network via its hub in Istanbul – one of the world’s most strategically positioned aviation gateways – offering onward connections to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

The partnership is expected to significantly enhance travel options between Nigeria and Türkiye, while also opening new pathways for trade, tourism, and economic cooperation by linking African markets more efficiently to global destinations.

Commenting on the development, Dr Özlem Özyön, Senior Vice President for International Relations and Alliances at Turkish Airlines, described the agreement as a reinforcement of the airline’s Africa expansion strategy.

“This interline agreement with Air Peace reinforces our commitment to expanding connectivity across Africa. By combining Turkish Airlines’ global reach with Air Peace’s strong regional presence, we are generating more travel options, improved convenience, and greater accessibility for our passengers,” she said.

On his part, Nowel Ngala, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace, emphasised the strategic value of the partnership in positioning Nigeria as a central hub in global aviation.

“This partnership with Turkish Airlines is another important milestone in Air Peace’s strategy to position Africa – and particularly Nigeria – at the centre of global connectivity.

By integrating our robust domestic and regional network with Turkish Airlines’ unparalleled international reach, we are offering our customers seamless connections, reduced travel complexity, and greater choice,” Ngala stated.

Turkish Airlines currently operates modern widebody aircraft into Lagos, delivering a premium onboard experience renowned for its award-winning inflight catering and advanced entertainment systems.

Its Istanbul hub continues to serve as a critical junction for international travel, connecting over 350 destinations worldwide.

Air Peace, meanwhile, operates a fleet of more than 50 aircraft, including Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s, and Embraer jets. The airline has steadily expanded its footprint across domestic, regional, and intercontinental routes, playing a vital role in enhancing mobility, trade, and tourism across Africa.

Tickets under the interline agreement are available through both airlines’ official booking platforms and IATA-accredited travel agents, making the new connectivity options readily accessible to travellers.

Industry analysts note that such partnerships are increasingly critical in bridging connectivity gaps across Africa, where fragmented route networks have historically limited seamless travel.

The Turkish Airlines–Air Peace alliance is therefore seen as a significant step towards integrating Africa more fully into the global aviation ecosystem while reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a key gateway on the continent.
