Moviegoers to Win Free Flights as United Nigeria Airlines Backs Democracy-Themed Kalakiri
United Nigeria Airlines has joined Nigerians in marking this year’s Democracy Day celebrations by partnering with Kalakiri, a new Nigerian film centred on the themes of democracy and national unity, as the carrier unveils special rewards for cinema-goers.
The airline said its support for the movie reflects its commitment to promoting unity and fostering connections among Nigerians across different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
As part of the initiative, movie enthusiasts who watch Kalakiri in cinemas across the country on June 12 will be eligible to participate in a special prize draw.
The overall winner will receive a return premium class ticket on United Nigeria Airlines to any destination within the carrier’s domestic network. The second prize winner will be awarded a return economy class ticket to any location served by the airline in Nigeria.
In addition to the ticket giveaways, all viewers who watch the film and present their cinema tickets will be entitled to a 10 per cent discount on any United Nigeria Airlines ticket purchase.
Speaking on the collaboration, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dayo Olawuyi, described June 12 as a significant date that symbolises the sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom and national unity.
According to him, supporting Kalakiri is the airline’s way of honouring those ideals while using storytelling as a vehicle for strengthening the bonds that unite Nigerians.
“June 12 is a reminder of the sacrifices made for the freedom and unity we enjoy today. Supporting Kalakiri is our way of honouring that legacy. As an airline that connects every corner of this nation and unites people of all tribes, we believe strongly in the power of storytelling to reinforce what holds us together as a people. This film does exactly that, and we are proud to stand behind it,” Olawuyi said.
Also commenting on the partnership, the airline’s Marketing Manager, Ebele Nebolisa-Mokaogwu, said the project aligns with United Nigeria Airlines’ mission of bringing people and cultures together.
She noted that the themes explored in the film resonate with the carrier’s objective of connecting Nigerians and strengthening national cohesion.
“We also fly to unite cultures and unite people, and we see that this aligns with us, where the film is trying to unite Nigerians through democracy,” she said.
Kalakiri, which is currently showing in cinemas nationwide, focuses on the ideals of democracy and the importance of national unity.
United Nigeria Airlines said its collaboration with the film underscores its belief that aviation and storytelling can both serve as powerful tools for building understanding and promoting togetherness among Nigerians.
The airline, one of the country’s leading domestic carriers, said the partnership represents a deliberate and values-driven effort to celebrate Democracy Day while rewarding customers and encouraging conversations around unity and shared national identity.
