Jetour Takes X70 PHEV to Abuja, Targets Stronger Foothold in Nigerian Auto Market
Jetour Nigeria is taking its X70 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) to Abuja as the automotive company steps up efforts to expand its customer base and strengthen its position in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving automobile market.
The company will headline the Jetour Experience Abuja with the X70 PHEV during the three-day motoring event scheduled for September 22 to 24, 2026, at the Maha Event Centre, Area 8, Abuja.
The event is expected to provide motorists, prospective vehicle owners and automotive enthusiasts in the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding areas with an opportunity to experience Jetour vehicles and their technologies at close range.
The Abuja edition comes after a Lagos showcase earlier in the year, which Jetour said attracted considerable interest from consumers and generated increased demand for its vehicles through test drives and sales enquiries.
The company said the decision to extend the experience to Abuja was informed by growing interest in its products from residents of the capital and neighbouring states.
During the event, visitors will be able to test-drive the X70 PHEV and other Jetour models while receiving information from product specialists on the vehicles’ features, technology, safety systems and driving capabilities.
A major attraction will be the X70 PHEV, which represents Jetour’s entry into the plug-in hybrid segment and combines conventional internal-combustion technology with electric propulsion.
The vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine working with a 19.43kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission.
The combination is designed to provide a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, while giving drivers different options for managing the vehicle’s energy consumption.
The X70 PHEV supports fast and slow charging, while its system can also draw energy from the engine and recover energy through regenerative braking.
Regenerative braking allows energy normally lost during deceleration to be recovered and fed back into the vehicle’s battery system.
According to Jetour, the multiple charging and energy-management options are intended to offer greater flexibility to motorists, particularly in an environment where access to public charging infrastructure remains limited.
The vehicle’s hybrid configuration could also appeal to motorists looking for ways to reduce dependence on conventional petrol consumption without moving entirely to a battery-electric vehicle.
Beyond vehicle technology, Jetour is placing emphasis on ownership support as it seeks to attract more Nigerian customers.
Jetour Nigeria, the country’s sole authorised distributor, provides a five-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty for the X70 PHEV.
The warranty forms part of the distributor’s efforts to strengthen buyer confidence and address concerns over maintenance and long-term ownership associated with newer vehicle technologies.
Jetour has also built an accredited dealer network across Nigeria comprising Elizade Nigeria Limited, New Era Auto Vehicle Services Limited, Kojo Motors, Germaine Auto Centre, Tab Autos Limited, R.T. Briscoe Motors and Mandilas Autos.
The expansion of the network is expected to improve customers’ access to vehicle sales, servicing and after-sales support as the company increases its presence beyond major commercial centres.
Jetour’s push into Abuja comes at a time when Nigerian motorists are increasingly paying attention to vehicle running costs, fuel consumption and alternative propulsion technologies.
The introduction of plug-in hybrid vehicles provides another option between traditional petrol-powered vehicles and fully electric cars, allowing motorists to combine an internal-combustion engine with battery-powered driving.
Jetour’s growing presence in Nigeria has also been supported by its emphasis on vehicle specifications and pricing, alongside efforts to develop its after-sales infrastructure.
The company has secured patronage from private and corporate customers and has continued to increase its visibility in the Nigerian automotive industry.
Its expansion has also received industry recognition, with Jetour winning the “Fastest Growing Auto Brand of the Year” award at the 2024 Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) Awards.
The company is now seeking to build on that momentum through direct engagement with consumers in Abuja.
The Jetour Experience is designed not only as a vehicle display but also as an opportunity for potential customers to interact with the brand, speak with product specialists and experience the vehicles through test drives.
For Jetour, the Abuja activation represents another step in its strategy to increase brand awareness, demonstrate its technological capabilities and expand its customer base in Nigeria.
With the X70 PHEV as the principal attraction, the company is expected to use the three-day event to highlight the potential of hybrid mobility while showcasing other models in its growing Nigerian line-up.
The event will also give consumers in Abuja and neighbouring states an opportunity to assess Jetour’s vehicles directly as the company continues its drive to establish a stronger and more sustainable presence in Nigeria’s competitive automotive market.
