The multiple awards, which span customer experience, sustainable finance, digital banking, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) banking, corporate responsibility and market leadership across several African countries, reflect the bank’s sustained commitment to innovation, financial inclusion, sustainability and customer-focused banking.
The achievement places Access Bank among the world’s leading financial institutions and further underscores the growing influence of African banks in shaping the future of global banking.
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are widely regarded as one of the banking industry’s most prestigious international accolades.
The awards recognise financial institutions based on a broad range of performance indicators, including profitability, innovation, corporate governance, leadership, strategic execution, customer satisfaction and long-term value creation.
Access Bank emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 2026 edition, receiving awards across multiple markets and business segments.
Among the honours, the bank was recognised for excellence in corporate responsibility in Angola, Botswana and Nigeria. It also received accolades for digital banking leadership in Cameroon and customer experience excellence in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as Kenya through the National Bank of Kenya.
The bank further strengthened its credentials in SME banking by winning awards in Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia, highlighting its continued support for small businesses and entrepreneurship across the continent.
In addition, Access Bank was honoured for its leadership in sustainable finance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives in Rwanda and Zambia.
The bank also secured the coveted Best Bank awards in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Zambia, reflecting its strong market presence and consistent operational performance.
Industry analysts said the breadth of the recognitions demonstrates the effectiveness of Access Bank’s pan-African business model and validates its long-term strategy of building a financial institution with both continental reach and global relevance.
They noted that the awards reflect the bank’s sustained investments in digital transformation, financial inclusion, sustainable banking, SME development and operational resilience, all of which have strengthened its competitive position across Africa.
Analysts also observed that the honours go beyond recognising individual products or initiatives, instead acknowledging consistent excellence across multiple markets.
According to them, the achievement reflects disciplined execution, sound corporate governance and prudent risk management that have supported the bank’s expansion across the continent.
The latest recognition aligns with Access Bank’s strategic vision of connecting Africa to the global economy by facilitating trade, promoting investment and expanding access to financial services across its growing network of operations.
The record-breaking performance at the Euromoney Awards is expected to further enhance the bank’s international profile and reinforce investor confidence as it continues to pursue sustainable growth and deepen its presence across Africa and other global markets.
