Intruder apprehended for causing panic on Azman Air
Passengers, on board an aircraft belonging to Azman Air, were thrown in panic as they caught sight of an intruder hovering round the ready-to-taxi aircraft at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
A video recorded by one of the passengers onboard shows that the man climbed into one of the engines and proceeded to the rooftop through the wings.
It was unclear whether he was a terrorist, stowaway or mentally derailed, as passengers were heard wondering what his intentions were.
However, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said that the intruder has been arrested by its Aviation Security officials.
A statement made available to TW says, “At about 1009 hours, aviation security officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria arrested an intruder who was sighted trying to climb into an Azman aircraft waiting for clearance from Air Traffic Controllers.
The pilot of the Azman aircraft with registration number 5N-HAI departing Lagos to Port Harcourt reported the incident and Avsec officials swiftly responded.”
The Authority added that the man has been apprehended and is now in Avsec’s custody, while the aircraft taxied back to the apron for a thourough check before departing for Port Harcourt afterward.
The Authority said it has already commenced an investigation of the incident.
