Toyota-By-CFAO Introduces All-New 2026 RAV4 to Nigeria in Sync with Global Roll-Out

Nigerian motorists have gained immediate access to the latest generation of Toyota’s popular RAV4 sport utility vehicle, following the official introduction of the all-new 2026 model by Toyota-By-CFAO Nigeria, making the country one of the markets receiving the vehicle simultaneously with its international release.

The development represents a major departure from the long-standing pattern in which Nigerian buyers often had to wait years before new-generation vehicles became available locally.

It also underscores growing confidence in the country’s automotive market and the strengthening of Toyota’s distribution and after-sales infrastructure in Nigeria.

Toyota-By-CFAO Nigeria announced that deliveries to customers have already commenced, with several units allocated to buyers who placed orders ahead of the vehicle’s official unveiling.

Speaking on the launch, Managing Director of Toyota-By-CFAO Nigeria, Boye Ajayi, said the company was committed to ensuring that Nigerian customers enjoy the same standards and products available in major automotive markets around the world.

According to him, the arrival of the new RAV4 signals the end of an era in which local consumers had to settle for older specifications or depend largely on grey imports.

“The 2026 RAV4 is now available in Nigeria at the same time as the rest of the world. Customers are getting the current global specification, supported by Toyota-certified service, genuine parts and a manufacturer’s warranty,” he said.

Ajayi noted that the company is raising the standard of vehicle ownership in the country by providing not only the latest models but also comprehensive support throughout the lifespan of the vehicle.

Three Variants Introduced for Nigerian Market

The company disclosed that the 2026 Toyota RAV4 will be offered in three variants – Active, Comfort and Limited – each tailored to suit different categories of motorists.

All three versions are powered by a 2.0-litre DOHC petrol engine capable of producing 172 horsepower and are equipped with Normal, Sport and Eco driving modes to provide flexibility and improved fuel efficiency.

Designed to meet the demands of both city driving and long-distance journeys, the new SUV comes with a luggage capacity of 481 litres, a ground clearance of 201 millimetres and a 55-litre fuel tank intended to support extended travel.

Toyota said the vehicle combines practicality with modern convenience, with standard features across the range including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, LED headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, push-button start and SmartKey keyless entry technology.

The interior also features dual-zone automatic air conditioning and a six-speaker audio system controlled through steering-wheel-mounted switches.

Engineers equipped the vehicle with MacPherson strut front suspension to ensure greater stability and ride comfort over both smooth highways and uneven road surfaces.

The conventional handbrake has also been replaced by an electric parking brake designed to simplify operation, particularly in heavy traffic situations.

Advanced Safety Systems Standard Across the Range

Toyota-By-CFAO stated that safety remains one of the key strengths of the new RAV4, with all variants featuring a range of technologies aimed at enhancing vehicle control and protecting occupants.

Among the systems included are Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-Start Assist and an engine immobiliser. Driver, front passenger and side airbags are also standard equipment.

According to the company, Vehicle Stability Control helps maintain traction and control during sudden manoeuvres, while Hill-Start Assist prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when moving off on steep inclines.

Variants Designed for Different Lifestyles

Toyota explained that the Active variant has been positioned as an ideal option for urban users and professionals seeking reliability and everyday practicality without the need for four-wheel-drive capability.

The Comfort variant introduces all-wheel-drive technology and additional features such as heated front seats, front fog lamps, a leather steering wheel, roof rails and rear USB charging ports, making it suitable for customers who frequently travel outside city limits.

At the top of the range is the Limited variant, which comes with a host of premium features including a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats and heated seating.

The flagship model also boasts a larger 12.8-inch infotainment display, replacing the 10-inch touchscreen found in the other variants.

Despite the differences in equipment, Toyota said all models enjoy identical engine performance, warranty protection and access to the same nationwide support network.

Ajayi described the 2026 RAV4 as a significant upgrade rather than a routine facelift.

“These are meaningful improvements that customers can immediately see and experience. From the enhanced interior and larger touchscreen to the panoramic roof and multiple drive modes, the vehicle delivers a premium experience without compromise,” he said.

Warranty and After-Sales Support Strengthened

A major feature of the ownership package is a three-year manufacturer’s warranty covering both parts and labour.

Toyota-By-CFAO said maintenance and repairs will be handled by technicians trained and certified to Toyota Motor Corporation standards, ensuring quality and consistency in service delivery.

The company added that genuine spare parts have been stocked in advance at its branches and service facilities located in Victoria Island and Amuwo-Odofin in Lagos, as well as in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Plans are also underway to expand the support network to 75 authorised service points across Nigeria by March 2027.

Ajayi said the long-term benefits of purchasing a manufacturer-backed vehicle far outweigh the perceived savings associated with imported used vehicles.

He noted that many grey imports lack verified maintenance records, warranty protection and guaranteed access to genuine components.

“The issue is not simply the purchase price. Customers should consider the quality of ownership and support they will receive years after buying the vehicle,” he said.

CFAO Mobility Highlights Investments in Nigeria

Managing Director of CFAO Mobility, Denis Martin, said the successful launch reflects years of investment in infrastructure, technical capability and customer support systems.

He explained that the company had strengthened its showroom facilities, after-sales operations and workforce training in line with Toyota’s global standards.

According to him, these improvements have enabled Nigeria to receive the 2026 RAV4 at the same time as customers in other parts of the world.

“This achievement demonstrates the progress we have made in building a world-class Toyota network in Nigeria. It is evidence of our commitment to providing Nigerian customers with access to global products and services,” Martin said.

Strong Customer Interest Ahead of Official Launch

Toyota-By-CFAO disclosed that demand for the new model had been strong even before its formal introduction, with numerous customers placing confirmed orders in advance.

The company said the response indicates increasing demand among Nigerians for current-generation vehicles backed by structured after-sales support and manufacturer warranties.

The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 is now available at Toyota-By-CFAO outlets in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, while financing arrangements have been made available through selected partner institutions.

A public unveiling event featuring test drives and on-site bookings is scheduled to take place on 11 June 2026 at the company’s Victoria Island showroom in Lagos.

Toyota-By-CFAO Nigeria operates under the CFAO Group as the authorised distributor of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, one of Toyota’s leading distribution partners across the African continent.
