Air Peace Wins Brazilian Approval, Sets Sights on Toronto, New York, China as Global Expansion Gathers Pace

Air Peace has recorded another landmark achievement in its ambitious drive to become a leading global carrier after securing approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate scheduled international services to and from the South American country.

The development marks a significant breakthrough for the airline and positions it to establish direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Brazil, a route expected to significantly enhance travel, trade and cultural relations between the two nations.

The Brazilian authorisation, contained in ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, grants the Nigerian carrier the right to operate regular passenger, cargo and mail services between Brazil and destinations across its network.

The approval comes at a time when Air Peace is aggressively pursuing expansion into key international markets, with plans already advanced for operations into North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The airline disclosed that it had, since last year, been seeking landing permits from the aviation authorities in Canada and the United States for scheduled services to Toronto and New York, respectively.

It is also nearing the completion of arrangements to resume flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Guangzhou in China.

In Europe, the airline has concluded plans to commence three weekly services to Manchester in the United Kingdom, while simultaneously strengthening its presence across Africa and other parts of the world.

Industry observers believe the Brazilian approval represents a major milestone not only for Air Peace but also for Nigeria’s aviation sector, as it opens the door to direct links between the two countries for the first time by a Nigerian airline.

The new route is expected to substantially reduce travel time between Nigeria and Brazil. At present, passengers travelling between both countries often endure journeys lasting nearly two days because of multiple transit stops. With direct operations, Air Peace said the journey time would be reduced to approximately seven hours.

The airline noted that the anticipated impact of the Brazil route would be similar to that of its Barbados service, which has helped strengthen ties between Nigeria and the Caribbean while offering greater convenience for travellers.

Analysts say the direct connection will create fresh opportunities for tourism, investment and business partnerships, while promoting stronger people-to-people interactions between Nigeria and South America.

Beyond passenger services, the approval is expected to provide a boost to cargo operations and facilitate deeper economic cooperation between Nigeria, Brazil and the broader South American region.

Nigeria and Brazil share longstanding historical, cultural and commercial ties, but the absence of direct air connectivity has often been viewed as a major impediment to unlocking the full potential of bilateral relations.

The commencement of direct flights is therefore expected to bridge that gap and stimulate increased exchanges between both countries.

Meanwhile, Air Peace continues to broaden its international footprint. The carrier recently announced plans to launch services to Libreville, Gabon; Conakry, Guinea; Bamako, Mali; and Douala, Cameroon, with operations scheduled to begin on 1 August.

The new routes are expected to reinforce the airline’s position as Nigeria’s foremost international carrier and further strengthen regional connectivity within Africa.

Air Peace’s growing network already includes destinations in Europe, the Caribbean and West Africa. Among them are London in the United Kingdom and Barbados, as well as Accra in Ghana, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Dakar in Senegal, Banjul in The Gambia, Monrovia in Liberia and Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire.

The latest development highlights the rapid transformation of the airline from a predominantly domestic operator into an emerging intercontinental carrier with a presence spanning Africa, Europe, North America, the Middle East, the Caribbean and South America.

With Brazil joining its expanding portfolio of international destinations and several strategic routes nearing completion, Air Peace appears poised to take another major step towards realising its vision of becoming Africa’s preferred airline and a globally respected aviation brand.

The approval from the Brazilian aviation authority is expected to further enhance Nigeria’s international connectivity and strengthen the country’s role in global aviation while offering passengers shorter travel times and improved access to key markets around the world.
