Fidelity Bank’s FundHer Supports Akara Café’s Expansion into Premium Market
Fidelity Bank’s FundHer financing programme has supported the expansion of Akara Café through the development of Pavillon, a premium sub-brand that represents a new phase in the food business’s growth.
The financing enabled Akara Café to invest in developing its new premium brand and establishing its latest branch in Abuja, while preserving working capital needed to sustain its existing operations.
The business said the opportunity to develop Pavillon presented an important growth prospect but required a significant financial commitment, making access to additional funding critical to its expansion plans.
According to Akara Café, growing a business requires more than a viable idea, as entrepreneurs must also secure adequate resources, plan effectively and maintain sufficient liquidity to support existing operations while pursuing new opportunities.
The company explained that although it had continued to build its established business, expanding into a premium market segment required a careful balance between investing in the new venture and meeting the day-to-day financial obligations of its existing operations.
It was against this backdrop that Fidelity Bank’s FundHer programme became instrumental in providing the financial support needed to advance the expansion.
Through the programme, Akara Café was able to access financing at a critical stage of its growth, enabling it to cover some of the costs associated with developing Pavillon without committing all its available working capital to the new venture.
The company noted that the arrangement provided the financial flexibility to pursue its expansion ambitions while maintaining the resources required to keep its existing business running smoothly.
It said access to finance was not merely about obtaining funds but also about creating the financial capacity for businesses to make strategic decisions, invest in promising opportunities and grow without placing unnecessary pressure on their established operations.
Beyond the financial assistance, Akara Café highlighted the support it received from its account manager, Ms Racheal, describing her as responsive and helpful throughout the process.
The business said her guidance and availability made the financing process more straightforward and seamless, particularly at a time when the company was managing several aspects of its expansion.
The opening of Pavillon, the newest Akara Café branch in Abuja, marks a significant milestone in the company’s development, providing an opportunity to introduce a premium expression of its established brand to customers.
For the business, Pavillon represents more than an additional location. It reflects its ambition to explore new market opportunities, broaden its offerings and build on the foundation established by Akara Café.
The company said transforming the expansion idea into a physical business required careful planning, substantial investment and sustained commitment, adding that access to appropriate financial support helped provide the capacity to take the step.
It also emphasised that business growth often comes through a series of deliberate decisions rather than a single dramatic breakthrough, with timely financial support helping entrepreneurs translate their ambitions into tangible results.
Akara Café expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for supporting its expansion through the FundHer programme, saying the partnership had contributed to its efforts to grow the business and explore new possibilities.
The company said its focus remained on expanding the Akara Café brand, creating memorable customer experiences and identifying opportunities to develop its business further.
With Pavillon now representing its latest venture, Akara Café said the development marked the beginning of another phase in its growth journey.
