Air Peace Debunks Misleading Report on CEO’s Visit to Ekiti, Refutes Claims of Being Stranded

Air Peace has strongly refuted claims published by Sahara Reporters suggesting that its Chairman and CEO, Dr. Allen Onyema, was stranded for over 24 hours at the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport due to a lack of navigational aids.

The airline described the report as “false, inaccurate, and misleading,” asserting that it was a deliberate attempt to misrepresent facts and tarnish the reputation of Air Peace and its leadership.

In a press statement signed by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, the airline clarified that the reported incident was a result of unfavourable weather conditions and had nothing to do with any deficiency at the airport.

According to the statement, the aircraft scheduled to pick up Dr. Onyema and his team on Saturday evening was unable to land in Ekiti due to heavy rainfall.

As per standard aviation safety protocols, the flight was diverted back to Lagos.

The airline emphasised that weather-related diversions are a routine occurrence in global aviation and should not be misconstrued as a sign of operational inadequacy at the Ekiti airport.

Air Peace also dismissed claims that its pilot executed a “risky manoeuvre” to exit Ekiti airport for Lagos, describing such allegations as “an outright fabrication.”

The airline reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest international aviation safety standards, stating unequivocally that it would never engage in unsafe operations.

Air Peace expressed disappointment at Sahara Reporters for what it termed sensational and reckless journalism, accusing the platform of deliberately ignoring the facts provided to them.

“This kind of misleading reportage not only misinforms the public but also seeks to damage the reputation of Nigeria’s foremost airline,” the statement read.

Reaffirming its dedication to safety and operational excellence, Air Peace assured the public that it remains committed to maintaining safe and timely flight operations in line with global aviation standards.
